William B Oxford

Mr. William B. Oxford, age 95 of Holladay, TN passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at his home. Mr. Oxford was born on September 5, 1923 in Benton County to the late Ulis Grant Oxford and Lenora Furr Oxford.  He was also preceded in death by his wife: Nina Doherty Oxford; a brother, Alver Grant Oxford; sisters, Alma Inez Smothers, Betty Mavis Melton, Vonelle Williams, Buren Helen Drummond, Vernia Faye Stills and Rilda Nadine Quinn.  Mr. Oxford was a lifelong member of Palestine United Methodist Church and a member of Mt. Carmel Masonic Lodge. He was an educator with the Benton County Board of Education for 39 years. He served as Principal, Basketball Coach, Special Education Teacher and Home Bound Teacher.  He enjoyed farming, gardening and growing prize winning pumpkins. He also loved Turkey and Quail Hunting.

Daughter: Andrea Oxford (Pedro) Salas of Holladay, TN

 

Granddaughter: Neisha Maria Salas (Dr. Ken) Berry of Holladay, TN

 

Beloved Nieces: Laura Jean Murphy and Myrna Yvonne Dohr

 

Nephew: Elvis Smothers

 

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 2 pm at the Oakdale Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Matthew Greer and Rev. Steve Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery in Holladay.

 

Visitation with the Oxford family will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 pm.
