It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Sam “Skip” N. Johnston, Jr., 71.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Skip worked for Chrysler and Jeep through parts and service dealerships across West and Middle Tennessee for 55 years. He was recently employed at Helms Motor Company in Lexington, TN. Skip was admired and loved by his automotive community.
Skip was a resident of the Ponderosa community in Sugar Tree, TN. He loved being on the TN river and a part of the Ponderosa. He served on the PPOA board in various capacities. His generous spirit and heart to help others will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
Skip is survived by his wife Susan Johnston, his daughters Gina (Philip) Payne and J-Rae (David) Dodd, his two sons, Matt (Jade) Johnston and Luke (Piper) Johnston, his son-in-law David Sharp, and his grandchildren Robby, Caitlin, Daniel, Logan, Addie, Sam, Austin, Brody, Ty, Claire, Madison, Savanah, Emma, Luke, Miles, along with countless friends and colleagues.
Skip is preceded in death by his parents, Sam N Johnston and Kathleen Johnston, his step mother Mary Jane Johnston, his daughter Jennifer Sharp, and his sisters Lynda Harris and Bay Coleman.
Visitation Services are set to be held on Saturday, June 27th at Oakdale Funeral Home, 2544 TN-69 Parsons, TN 38363 from 11-12am. Due to covid restrictions, a limited, private family service will be held following visitation.
