Carlene Wiltshire

Billie Carlene Betts Wiltshire, 87, of Camden, TN passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022.  She was born on May 12, 1935, in the Providence Community near Bells, TN, and was the only child of the late James Carl Betts and Rose Nell (Raburn) Betts.  As a small child, her family moved to Memphis where she lived until she married.  She graduated from Tech High School in the Class of 1953.

Carlene was married on February 5, 1955, in Hernando, MS, to Homer Wiltshire Jr, who survives.  They began their married life in Elizabethtown, KY.  She was a military wife and homemaker who raised 4 children while being stationed with her husband in the United States, Germany, England, and Okinawa, Japan.  She and Homer retired to Camden, TN after serving 20 years in the United States Army.  After moving to Camden, she pursued her passion and became a professional genealogist.  She was a member of Cowell’s Chapel United Methodist Church. 

In addition to her parents, Carlene was preceded in death by an infant son Timothy.

Carlene is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Homer Wiltshire Jr., children Drew Wiltshire of Nashville, TN, Andrea (Dwayne) Greer of Camden, Gerald (Tammy) Wiltshire of Jackson, TN and Eddie (Sissie) Wiltshire of Paris, TN.  She is also survived by five grandchildren Missy (Rick) Moody and Kelly (Greg) Andrews both of Paris, TN,

Eric Haldeman of Havre, MT, Amy (David) Basham of Jackson, TN, and Bethany (Grant) Luckey of Humboldt, TN.  10 Great grandchildren Madison, Makenzie, Gavin, Britton, Kane, Anett, Edina, Mark, Lucy, Ben, and 4 great, great grandchildren AvaJewel, Eli, Jameson, and Maelynn.

Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Oakdale Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2 pm at Oakdale Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Beal officiating.  Burial to follow in the Camden City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Cowells Chapel United Methodist Church at 1681 Natchez Trace Rd, Camden, TN 38320 or The American Cancer Society in memory of Carlene Wiltshire.
