Bro. W.R. Roach

Bro. W.R. Roach age 81 of Scotts Hill, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 in Westwood Health Care and Rehab Center in Decaturville.

He was born July 18, 1939 in the Grays Chapel Community of Decatur County to the late Dewey Roach and Maudie Mae Phillips Roach. Bro. Roach was an avid gardener, harvesting his produce and selling to the community. He prided himself on getting his vegetables and fruits planted and harvested in order to provide to the community as quickly as possible. Known as a master craftsman, Bro. Roach, was also a carpenter, owned and operated a saw mill among many others. He loved the Lord and was a minister of the Gospel for over forty years pastoring different churches over the years including Grays Chapel. Bro. Roach proudly served in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Ivey Roach.

Bro. Roach is survived by one son, Stacey Roach (Misty) of Scotts Hill; three daughters, Shelia Mayo (Welvon) of Decaturville, Sharlene Montgomery (Todd) and Darlene Ashby (Vince) all of Bath Springs; two brothers, Raymond Roach and Tony Roach both of Lexington; two sisters, Bonnie Newman of Parsons and Gail Haggard both of Parsons. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, Kristie Funderburk (Jeremy) Brent Mayo (Melissa), Wendi Cruz (Nick), Felicia Roach, Sommer Ozier (Evan), Chase Stout (Rheannon), Sheyanna Roach and Hunter Roach as well as eleven great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Stacey Roach, Hunter Roach, Chase Stout, Brent Mayo, Vince Ashby and Todd Montogomery. Honorary pallbearers are Trysten Roach and Jeremy Funderburk.

Funeral services for Bro. Roach will be conducted Sunday, November 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Grays Chapel Pentecostal Chuch with Bro. Welvon Mayo and Bro. Gene Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Grays Chapel Cemetery. The Roach family will receive friends at the Church on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Masks are optional at the church and the family requests no food. In lieu of flowers please direct memorials to the Grays Chapel Cemetery fund in Memory of Bro. Roach.
