Mrs. Mildred L. Black, age 96 of Winston, GA passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She was born August 11, 1921 in Bemis, TN. Mrs. Black went to nursing school and became an LPN in 1968. Mildred even volunteered as a nurse after she retired. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. After her husband served in WWII, she and her family were part of military forces residing in Germany. She was an active member of Woodland Presbyterian Church in Nashville, TN and then at New Covenant United Methodist Church in Douglasville, GA. She spent much of her time with the Douglasville Seniors. Her favorite pastime however, was spending time with her family and was very proud of them.She is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life: William Black, Her parents: Herman and Thelma Jordan, one son: John Black, one daughter: Sharon Hall, two brothers: Douglas Jordan and Ray Jordan, as well as one grandson: Jeffrey Hall. She is survived by one son: William Gene(Tammy)Black, one daughter: Teresa(Robert)Gould, one son-in-law: Arthur Hall, one daughter-in-law: Cindy Black, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.The family would like to express their gratitude for the staff at Benton House for their exceptional care and selflessness giving for the care of Mrs. Black. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM.  A funeral service will follow with Val Braphwaite officiating.
